March 10, 2010 Dear Parents, “A Decade of Dreams” The “Decade of Dreams” Auction was an incredible evening. I was so pleased by the number of people that were able to attend and by the wonderful spirit of community that was present at Prestonwood. The profit to the school through your generosity was far greater than anticipated. I cannot begin to thank you enough for your presence, your donations, your wild and frantic bidding, and your support of St. Michael School. I am deeply grateful to Colleen Ueland and Laura Usher for their leadership as chairs of this wonderful event. I also thank each of you who volunteered, made donations or helped in any way. May God who began this good work carry it through to completion as we build our future.
The results of the Classroom Auction Bidding are as follows: Please remember in your prayers the grandfather of Mrs. Jenipher Free. William Clute recently passed away in Arizona. He is the great-grandfather of Daniel (Grade 3) and Riley (Pre-K) Free. Congratulations to Liam Peeples and Megan Riegel winners of the CASL Hamilton Sportsmanship Award! Students in Grade 1 & 2 will pray the Stations of the Cross on Tuesday, March 16th at 10:00 AM. Grade 7 will attend Mass on Wednesday, March 17th at 8:30 AM. You are welcome to join us during this season of Lent. The Parent Commitment Form is due on Monday, March 15th. This is the arrangement that you intend to make for payment of tuition during the 2010-2011 school year. If selecting Option C to enroll in FACTS® and this is your initial enrollment, please call the School Office to request an enrollment form to be sent home or stop by the School Office to pick one up. If you presently use FACTS® Tuition Management, you need do nothing. Your enrollment will automatically roll over to the new school year. Payments for the 2010-2011 school year will begin in May, 2010 and span through April, 2011 (12 equal payments). Thank you to everyone who is participating in the Angel Bucks Program. The total sales last week: $8,620.00. The profit for St. Michael School: $412.70. Used Uniform March Madness - buy 1 and get 1 free; mix & match and pay for the lower priced item! Stock up now! The main entrance to the campus should not be a one way exit during afternoon carpool. Cars should only exit through the official exit in front of the church. Blocking the entrance by using this as an exit is extremely dangerous. Please remember that on Tuesday, March 30th, school will dismiss at 11:30 AM due to the Chrism Mass which Bishop Burbidge has requested be held at St. Michael Church this year. There will be no After School Care Program on that day. Thursday, March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day, there will be an out-of-uniform opportunity for teachers and students. Proceeds from the day will benefit Cystic Fibrosis research. Mrs. Elana O’Connell’s son, Joey, lived with Cystic Fibrosis until his death this year. This event is in memory of Joey O’Connell. The Parish Center Lunch and Irish Talent Show scheduled for Tuesday, March 16th, may need to be rescheduled due to the work that may have begun in the Parish Center. Recent water damage of the hardwood floor will necessitate a new floor. I will send you an updated e-mail on Monday, March 15th. Mark your calendars for a few of the upcoming PTO events: *First on Thursday, March 18th, come to the PTO General Meeting to hear guest speaker Julia V. Taylor speak on "Navigating Friendships: Positive strategies to help our kids maintain healthy friendships and deal with the social challenges of growing up."
